Sep 9, 20252:41Now PlayingMarking a historic moment, State and tribal leaders raised eleven new flags on the Capitol Mall Friday, one for each of the federally recognized tribes in Minnesota. The creation of Tribal Flag Plaza is meant to symbolize and acknowledge the partnership between these sovereign Native American tribes and the state. As part of the new permanent installation at the Capitol, each flag is surrounded by native planting like sage, sweetgrass, and white pines, representing each tribe's heritage and community.
