Sep 11, 20251:17:06Now PlayingEvent coverage of the Tribal Flag Plaza flag-raising ceremony celebrating the installation of eleven flags representing the federally recognized Tribes of Minnesota. The ceremony on September 5, 2025, marked an historic moment at the Minnesota State Capitol: for the first time, the flags of the eleven sovereign Tribal Nations sharing land with Minnesota were permanently raised on the Capitol grounds. The plaza became only the second in the nation behind Montana and is a new feature on “Minnesota’s Front Yard.” Work completed was the first of the Capitol Mall Design Framework approved by tribal leaders and the Capitol Area Architectural and Planning Board.
