Dr. Raj B Singh, Pulmonologist, Apollo Hospital, Chennai said that in a country like India, 90% of healthcare should be provided from public funding because it is our underinvestment that has produced great shortages which are now being filled in by private medicines.
Akshay Marathe from Aam Aadmi Party talks about how black marketing of beds has taken over the pandemic in our country. There should be proper checking of private hospitals in the country and a sustainable system should be built to tackle the illness.
The question of whether the government should step in, and subsidize some part of the cost of private hospitals is still a concern for many.
