3:41Now PlayingAmidst the fear of COVID pandemic, Karnataka gears up tenth board exams. 8,48,203 students to appear for the exams at 3209 centres across the state. With a total number of coronavirus cases crossing 9700, and Bengaluru reporting the highest with 1505 persons testing positive, the education department has decided to go ahead with tenth board exams which is due to begin on Thursday. Nearly 8,48,203 students will be appearing for the exam at 3209 centres across the state.
Speaking to Mirror Now, State Education Minister Suresh Kumar said that all adequate precautionary measures have been taken such as setting up of nearly 238 help desks at district and taluk level, 5755 health check-up counters and deploying 6418 health volunteers at the exam centres. While there has been a growing concern amongst education activists and students whether or not the government should go ahead with exams, the education board backtracked on their statement saying that students from containment zones will also be allowed to attend the exams. If a student is exhibiting symptoms of coronavirus, he or she will be not be allowed to take the exam instead, they will be allowed to appear for the supplementary exam as a fresh candidate.
