5:25Now PlayingAssam: Floods in Assam wreaks havoc, claims lives of 119 people. In the past 24 hours, 4 people have been deceased. More than 28 lakh people have been affected over 26 districts. The Brahmaputra is still flowing over the danger mark, causing 50,000 people to stay in shelter homes.
CM Sonowal visited a flood-hit area called Rangia. Parimal Suklabaidya, Forest Minister of Assam says the damage to wildlife has not been immense as compared to last year and many have been rescued. Dibrugarh area has seen 4 waves of the flood where 18000 people are affected. However, relief camps have been set up to provide various facilities to the people.
Locals complain about the ration from govt. being insufficient. Residents are living in temporary homes and facing a lot of trouble. People are co-existing in sheds set up by them.
