In a massive political turn, Shiromani Akali Dal aligned with the National Democratic Alliance has decided to quit the alliance. This decision was taken in order to revolt against the Centre’s decision over farm bills. Akali was one of the oldest allies of the BJP.
SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal announced the decision in a press briefing. He also lashed out at the Central government calling the farm bills lethal and disastrous. Badal stated, ‘because of the Centre’s stubborn refusal to give statutory legislative guarantees to protect assured marketing of farmers crops on MSP and its continued insensitivity to Punjabi and Sikh issues like excluding the Punjabi language as an official language in Jammu and Kashmir’.
