5:20Now PlayingFamily of 32-year old Sheetal dama say it’s because of BMC’s sheer negligence that she lost her life. On October 3, Dama had left the house in the evening to buy groceries. And as it was raining heavily, she chose to walk by the other lane which was less waterlogged.
She fell into a manhole (just 2 lanes away from her house) and her body was recovered two days later at Haji Ali (20 km away).
The family had filed a missing complaint on October 3 and search operation was also conducted but she was not found till Monday evening.
FAMILY SAYS ITS A MURDER BY BMC
Family and residents of the area claim the manhole with fibre which is very loose. In case of heavy rainfall and water logging it opens up on its own and that is what exactly happened on that day. Residents have complained the local ward office many times to put nice and heavy quality lids but no attention was paid. BMC says the inquiry has been conducted in this case and the report will be submitted in 15 days.
