A massive political dispute erupted between Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari after the demand and protest outrage for re-opening of temples surged.
Governor Koshiyari wrote a letter to CM Uddhav primarily to request the re-opening of temples in Maharashtra, however, he further stated that ‘You have been a strong votary of Hindutva. You suddenly turned secular, a term you hated’.

Senior Journalist Ashutosh says, ‘In my opinion, the post of the governor should be abolished and the Chief Minister should run the administration, good or bad’. Whereas BJP’s Sudesh Verma says, ‘The way Pawar has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi, this shows that they just want to politicise. If at all, he should have written to the President of India’.
