2:31Now PlayingThe Indian Council of Medical Research has issued an advisory on the use of plasma therapy saying that it must be used sparingly only for highly severe COVID-19 patients. The top medical body has also stressed that the plasma therapy should not be used as a treatment for severe cases.
According to ICMR’s advisory Plasma Therapy, the recipient should be in early stages of COVID-19; the person should be administered between 3-7 days from onset of symptoms; Donors can donate after 14 days of symptom resolution. One of the main points to note is that women who have never been pregnant can only donate plasma.
