As most of the roads were closed, the city and the upper regions were cut off from the rest of the state. In Shimla and nearby areas, normal life was paralysed and half of the town remained for hours without electricity and a large number of vehicles were stranded. The police helped drive patients to hospitals in a good gesture. An elderly person had to reach a hospital but the ambulance could not arrive in time. Police helped him reach the hospital via crane.
