Over 35,000 teachers working in private schools have taken to the streets today demanding that the government revoke their order that suggests a fee cap. In the city of Bengaluru alone, we are looking at over 10,000 teachers who have gathered at the city railway station and they will be taking out on a rally of 2.2 km to Freedom Park. Mirror Now’s relentless coverage of the exorbitant fees collected by private schools forced the Karnataka government to look into the issue and pass an order. The order dated January 29, suggests that all private schools must collect only 70% of the tuition fees. Despite the order, several schools continue to flout the order and have been blocking children from attending online classes for not paying full-term school fees.
