0:31Now PlayingIn the latest development regarding the case of farmer activist and Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi, it is being reported the jailed activist will contest in the upcoming assembly elections from Assam which will be held in 3 phases- March 27, April 1 and April 6, and results of the said polls will be announced on May 2. Gogoi is facing severe UAPA charges and will contest polls from the Sivasagar constituency. He was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in December 2019 in connection with his role in the anti-CAA protests that resulted in violence in the northeast state. His bail petition in the top court was rejected by the Gauhati High Court last year.
