It has come to light that EVMs that were used in the second base of polling in Assam were found in the car which belongs to a BJP candidate. After taking stock of the incident, the Election Commission suspended 5 officials and sought a report. The Central Agency even ordered repolling in 1 booth in Assam's Karimganj district.
However, the Congress Party has come out and slammed the agency for not taking any strict actions against the BJP candidate. The party even claimed that agencies are being used selectively. Why is Congress not satisfied with the action taken by Election Commission?
Reacting to the conspiracy, BJP's Charu Pragya says that 'Election Commission is an independent body, re-polling has already been ordered. However, why is it that EVM conspiracies are only talked about in states where BJP has either won the election or is just about to win the election?'. While, Shailesh Gandhi, Former Central Information Commissioner says that 'It is extremely important that within 24 hours or at best 48 hours a complete investigation report must be put in the public domain',
