20:52Now PlayingOn the Urban Debate today with Tanvi Shukla, catch up on the latest updates as cities from across the states are facing a critical shortage of beds. Patients are in dire need of medical care as the bed capacity run out when the pandemic peaks at it’s highest. Ventilator beds, ICU beds, oxygen beds, all fall short and the patients are being turned away by the helpless hospitals. Reports suggest that there’s an acute scarcity of beds in major metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru being the worst hit cities. In light of this grim shortage Dr Ashok Seth of Fortis Escorts Heart Institute comments on this situation stating that we have the ability to decrease the oxygen usage and explains what can be done on-ground to do so. Further on Dr. Harish Hirani of CSIR-CMERI also informs that we've dipped into industrial oxygen setups & diverted them. He adds that there still other institutions where there are oxygen supplies that we can dip into. He also talks about the possibility of the airforce to airlift cylinders to places in a faster manner.
