The ICMR reportedly stated that Covaxin is efficient against the double mutant virus strain. The new variant B.1. 617 was initially detected in India. It’s still highly prevalent in Maharashtra however it’s samples are identified in at least 10 states and average around 52% of the total samples collected. The double mutant was found in other countries as well. The ICMR has however, claimed that the Covaxin is effective towards 3 variants and so far relevant in case of the double mutant virus strain.
