The paediatric association is of the opinion that 1-2% of the total population especially children can be infected by COVID especially in Karnataka. And out of this, 0.5% will end up having Multi-system Inflammatory Syndrome. While a Covid task force has been set up by the Karnataka government, doctors tell us how they are going to face a shortage of paediatricians, nurses and that Karnataka is yet to prepare in terms of setting up infrastructure. As many as 60,000 kids will be infected by the third wave of the COVID in Karnataka alone and the state will need 5,000 ICU beds every day, adds experts.
