The price of tomatoes in Mumbai currently stands at Rs 5/kg and the agitated farmers are now resorting to dump their excess produce. The farmers have complained that with such low prices, they will be unable to put food on the table and have appealed to the state government. While the Centre has directed the state government to use Central schemes in order to provide relief to the farmers, but the state government is yet to make any such announcements.
