The countries move to join forces with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation over security concerns over Russia's war in Ukraine. Now, that the application has been put in, it will be weighed by 30 member companies which is expected to take about 2 weeks. The Nordic nations need all members' approval to join the NATO.
"Your membership in NATO would increase our shared security... determined to work through all issues," said the Secretary-General. Russian President Putin has stressed the possibility of action from the Kremlin on this alliance.
