Foreign secretary Vinay Kwatra in a media briefing said that the event is a milestone relationship between the two countries. The timing of the Prime Minister's visit is very important, and the foreign secretary added that citizens of both countries are looking forward to it with interest. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will address the joint session of the U.S congress and he will be the first Indian Prime Minister to do it for the second time. The Prime Minister earlier had addressed the U.S. Congress back in 2016.
