6:15Now PlayingTop News | Judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who was famously declared by Bengal's advocate general Kishore Datta to "receive a BJP ticket to contest the Lok Sabha election" during a courtroom altercation in January, has announced that he is "done" with the judiciary and will step down on Tuesday in order to start a political career. After serving as a permanent judge for four years, he was formally scheduled to retire in August. In an interview with a Bengali station, Justice Gangopadhyay made the declaration, stating that he wished to combat corruption from "a larger field" because many victims of it could no longer access the courts.
