10:49Now PlayingIn this episode of Nation Tonight, anchor Shreya Upadhyaya will discuss how the right to an abortion will soon be enshrined in the constitution for the first time in France. The ruling is in line with President Emmanuel Macron's pledge to defend abortion rights in the wake of the US Supreme Court's 2022 decision to strike down long-standing abortion regulations. In the joint session of parliament, the constitutional change is likely to be overwhelmingly supported by the public, who ardently favour the reform. The Senate's and the lower house National Assembly's approval of declaring abortion a "guaranteed freedom" gave the constitutional reform a boost. We are joined by François Gautier, Senior French Journalist who will be expressing his view on this matter. "When France becomes the 1st nation to legalize the right to abortion...India has given the freedom to women to abortion," stated François Gautier, Senior French Journalist.
