0:54Now PlayingDuring our Around Africa Expedition with OceanQuest, we created the first ever map of this large seamount on the Madagascar Ridge. South of Walters Shoal, this underwater mountain rises an incredible 2,000 meters above the seafloor and boasts a 32 kilometer wide flat top, which also makes it a guyot.
Our mapping and ROV dives on this seamount provide us with invaluable data about this unique habitat, which can inform policy makers on how to better protect this ecosystem.
