Clay Travis discussed Derrick Henry's amazing performance as the Titans destroyed the Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. Clay Travis mentioned that Derrick Henry had a record-breaking night for the Titans as he rushed for 238 yards and scored four touchdowns -- including a record-tying 99 yard run as the Titans beat the Jaguars by a 30-9 score.
Clay Travis also discussed Kevin Hart and and the public outrage that he was the target of regarding the upcoming Oscars. Old tweets surfaced on Thursday which caused the Hollywood community to go berserk. As a result of the public outrage, Kevin Hart said he was no longer going to host the Oscars. Kevin Hart had announced he was hosting the Oscars earlier this week. Kevin Hart tweeted last night that he was no longer going to host the Oscars.
Clay Travis went on to discuss an article on the Hartford Courant where ESPN admitted they were off course for a number of years when they tried to combine sports coverage with left-wing political opinion.
Clay Travis, who has been railing at ESPN for years, for the political nature of their sports coverage quoted many parts of the story including where Norby Williamson, vice president of studio production -- which means he is in charge of SportsCenter, said “I think we miscalculated a little bit," Williamson said. "The perception became that you could just roll a talent out there and it doesn't matter what he or she is saying — that the content didn't matter. I just never believed that.”
ESPN had suffered devastating ratings decreases with the politicalized-commentary and the return to sports coverage has been met with increasing ratings.
The article said, "In a year on the job, Norby Williamson has overseen the end of the personality-driven 6 p.m. “SportsCenter” that starred Jemele Hill and Michael Smith. (Hill called Trump a white supremacist last year and recently left ESPN.) Meanwhile, 7 a.m. and noon editions of "SportsCenter" were added to the daily schedule this fall."
Jemele Hill was a controversial figure at ESPN and Clay Travis frequently discussed Jemele Hill on Outkick. Norby Williamson said ESPN is returning to when it was successful.
Clay Travis also mentioned that Hugh Freeze is taking the job as head coach of Liberty. Hugh Freeze had been mentioned as a possible offensive coordinator for Tennessee. Clay Travis said he expected Hugh Freeze would be very successful at Liberty. Clay Travis predicted Hugh Freeze would leave Liberty football after a couple of successful years and then take over a major program in college football.
Clay Travis discussed some of these topics on Outkick the Coverage this morning as well -- including the Derrick Henry 99 yard TD and how it tied Tony Dorsett. Tony Dorsett also had a 99-yard touchdown.
