YouTube Description
as posted by the channelI need to clarify something important about the proposed work permit rule changes and what they mean for your asylum case. ⚖️ I previously recommended applying for asylum as soon as possible to get grandfathered into the current work permit system, and filing a mandamus lawsuit if you’ve been waiting years for your interview. Both recommendations still stand. 📄 Right now, you must wait 180 days after filing for asylum before becoming eligible for a work permit. The new rules could take effect before that window closes. Federal courts, however, could delay implementation through a temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction, potentially pausing the rules for months. ⏳ That delay could give you time to qualify under the current, more favorable system. Here’s the critical point: these proposed rules apply only to pending asylum cases. If you win your case, none of this affects you. You have the right to work legally, period. If the new rules take effect, renewing a work permit could become nearly impossible. You do not want to be stuck in that position. The goal is to win your case as quickly as possible and move onto a completely different track. Once you have asylum, you are in the clear. If you apply now, you could receive your interview within weeks and a decision shortly after. For those waiting years, a mandamus lawsuit remains the most effective tool. Our clients typically receive an interview notice within about two and a half months of filing mandamus. If you need help applying for asylum or want to force your interview, send me the word consult in a direct message.
