A Venezuelan emergency room doctor was detained at a South Texas airport after checking in for a flight, and her case is a warning for asylum seekers 🚨 Dr. Rubelis Bolivar was stopped after checking in for a flight from Texas to California while traveling with her five-year-old U.S. citizen daughter. She entered the country legally and had both a pending asylum case and a pending green card application ⚖️ Her husband says she showed a valid work permit through 2030, but officers told her that no documents from Venezuela were valid. She was detained anyway. None of that protected her 💼 This happened at an airport, where contact with federal authorities is immediate. A pending asylum application is not the same as having legal immigration status 📢 A pending green card application is not either. Both recent arrests of Venezuelan doctors happened in South Texas, where enforcement near the border is especially intense. If you do not have legal status, avoid travel and stay away from high enforcement areas. I’m Brian Manning, and if you need help with an asylum case or getting a loved one out of immigration detention, send me the word “CONSULT” in a direct message.
