Russell broke down how real transformation almost always begins with a departure from the familiar, often forced by a crisis you can't avoid, delay, or defer, sometimes an inner crisis rather than an outward one. He explained the first real step is simply acknowledging the problem honestly, admitting that life has become unmanageable, rather than dismissing sadness or dissatisfaction as something irrational to fix. Russell argued that trusting those feelings, rather than talking yourself out of them, is actually a sign of personal integrity. The second necessary step, he said, is genuinely believing change is possible, because without that belief, you'll never marshal the inner resources it takes to get there.
