This armor consists of a high explosive sandwiched between two armored plates.
When an anti-tank round hits the ERA, the plates compress and the armor explodes. This causes the armor to explode, which dissipates the force of the incoming warhead.
ERA armor can only be used once before it must be replaced, but it can give a tank a second chance.
ERA can be defeated by tandem warheads. These are warheads that contain two explosive charges. One warhead detonates the ERA, the second warhead penetrates the tank.
