1:29Now PlayingIf you had one question for a sleep expert, what would it be??
Today, Dr Michael Breus answers the questions people are usually too embarrassed to ask…
Dr Michael is a clinical psychologist and board-certified sleep specialist.
He’s spent the last 26 years helping people fix the one thing that impacts almost everything else - sleep.
Michael brought me through the framework he uses with his clients. He started with chronotypes, how your body’s natural rhythm affects everything from energy to focus. Then we looked at blood sugar and how dips in the night can trigger those 3am wakeups.
We spoke about why most people use melatonin wrong, and how core body temperature plays a bigger role in sleep than most of us realise!
So I wanted to know:
- What’s the best way to fall back asleep?
- How many hours of sleep do you really need?
- When should you stop drinking caffeine?
- What do elite performers get right about sleep?
I took the chronotype test the morning we recorded this, there’s four of them in total.
I thought I’d come out as a wolf, someone who comes alive later in the day.
But I got dolphin. And that one insight made me rethink how I structure my day and even how I work.
