The evolutionary theory of the state's origin describes the state's origin in various ways. It argues that the origin of the state is the result of different factors which contributed to its origin. These various factors include; kingship group, magic and religion, property and the rise of economic class, war and force, and political consciousness.

The earlier human relations consisted of kinship bonds. The family constituted the first instance of human society. Various people living in this community were linked by the bond of blood. With time, the people developed tribes and then states came into being. Similarly, magic and religion also played its role in the emergence of the state. primitive men did not understand the forces of nature. Hence, they attributed it to different things. Gods were created similarly. Those who acquired magic became dominant and were obeyed by those who did not. Hence, a relation of command and authority came into being. Property and the rise of economic classes are also important in the increase of state. when private property emerged, there arose a need to protect that property. In this way, the institution of government came into being. This institution was used to protect the property of the rich class. Hence, the state came into being to protect the wealthy. War and force also played a role in this regard. It is said that the state is the child of force. The War, aggression, conquest, and other factors contributed to the rise of the state. force was necessary to establish a state and force was necessary to maintain the control over state. Lastly, political consciousness also played its role in the emergence of the state. the social contract theory can be an expression of this.
