In the pursuit of putting former President Trump’s in front of a camera at any possible opportunity, CNN had a 1:1 town hall with former President Trump last week. By all accounts, it was a complete disaster. Despite the efforts from CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins, Trump did his usual thing, and it’s hard to imagine there being any other outcome. In the end, CNN didn’t even see any meaningful ratings, despite trading away whatever was left of their credibility to make this happen.
Since the town hall, the most well respected journalist at CNN, Christiane Amanpour, has publically criticized the network: “I can only hope that your trust in us might have been shaken, but not shattered. That you believe we can survive and rebuild that trust.” she said at the Columbia Journalism Awards.
Can we really rebuild trust? Fool me once...or twice really.
