No, not his alleged affair with a couch or his previous choice words about Donald Trump. People are freaking out about J.D. Vance’s Indian wife.
White nationalists online, including prominent voices like Nick Fuentes, have been criticizing the vice presidential pick for not having a white wife. “What kind of man marries somebody that isn’t a Christian? What kind of man marries somebody named Usha? Clearly, he doesn’t value his racial identity, his heritage. Clearly, he doesn’t value his religion. He doesn’t marry a woman that professes Jesus Christ? What does that say about him?”
Considering the adoption of white supremacist “great replacement” rhetoric across the Republican party this should come as no surprise. But it certainly is still upsetting to watch Vance totally cave to these talking points and fail to defend his wife from these attacks.
So much for family values!
