as posted by the channelAfter 14 years of austerity have left the United Kingdom in dire straits, Britain’s first labor government since Tony Blaire has promised to do things differently than the Tories.
The cost of living is out of control, the national health service (NHS) is in shambles, and Brexit continues to wreak havoc in the labor market and the economy. Much of what happens next comes down to one man: newly minted British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. So, who is he?
One of the most recognizable actions from Starmer’s was he kicked out former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is remembered for his anti-war stances as well as friendly relations with Irish Republicans and Pro Palestinian groups. Despite getting booted from the party and labeled as an antisemite, this year Corbyn was able to win reelection as an independent. Besides being simply anti-Corbyn, Starmer also seems to be to the right of much of the UK’s left. While it might not be totally clear what plans the Labor Party has for the UK, we read some tea leaves with Michael Walker of Novara Media.
