4:33Now PlayingThey’re calling it “the least tone deaf op-ed of all time.”
While ordinary people on the left and the right have been uniquely united in their disdain for the private healthcare system, this one is for the dreamers, the lovers, the corporate shills who never miss an opportunity to misread the room.
In an op-ed for the Times that was so bad that comments had to be shut down hours after publication, loveable goofball and head of United HealthCare’s parent company UnitedHeath Group Andrew Witty makes an appeal to the world that corporations are people too, and they can change! If you just gave them a chance.
In the writing, platformed by the New York Times, Witty played up the CEO’s ties to his Iowa farm roots and his mission to always find “ways to improve care,” the thousands denied covered by the insurance company would beg to differ. The platforming of this healthcare executive by the paper of record should be no surprise to anyone following corporate media’s response to Luigi Mangione’s killing of Brian Thompson. Yet, it begs the question, when will the media actually be able to read the room?
