Now The Left Is Supposed To Give A Damn About Jelly Roll?

Jelly Roll suddenly has a lot to say about Donald Trump.

After spending years largely avoiding politics — and after being photographed shaking Trump's hand at a UFC event — Jelly Roll spent this week guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live and repeatedly taking shots at the president.

Now we're apparently supposed to celebrate because he finally found his political voice.

I'm not convinced.

Jelly Roll says shaking Trump's hand wasn't an endorsement and that he would shake the hand of any sitting president out of respect for the office. He has also acknowledged that he previously avoided speaking about politics and says he now regrets staying quiet.

That's his explanation, and you can decide whether you believe it.

But I think it's fair to ask why so many wealthy and influential people seem to discover their courage only after the political winds begin changing.

Millions of ordinary Americans didn't have the luxury of waiting. Workers, immigrants, farmers, small-business owners and families have been living with the consequences of political decisions while celebrities carefully protected their brands.

So no, this isn't about demanding ideological purity from Jelly Roll. People are allowed to change their minds. They're allowed to grow. And if his change is sincere, good.

But changing your mind doesn't erase the past, and speaking up now doesn't mean everyone who was already fighting gets obligated to throw you a parade.
