Opal calls Forrest and Paul's After Dark after watching a clip where they argued the Gospels don't primarily teach love. As a Christian who deconstructed from fundamentalism and came back to a more personal faith, they wants to push back — and openly admits they might have a blind spot. Paul dismantles the "greatest commandment" argument by pointing out that loving God means obedience and submission to authority, not the kind of love we apply to our kids and partners. Forrest argues the Bible's real primary message is obedience, catalogues its endorsement of slavery and genocide, and concludes it should be treated like Greek mythology: some neat stuff in there, but don't take it seriously. Opal, refreshingly, agrees with most of it — and reveals they mostly uses the Bible for nostalgia and as a bridge when talking to other believers.
