Did Paul Ryan Just Undermine Himself?

In Paul Ryan's quest to "revamp" which is Washington speak for get rid of, federal benefit programs, he took a look at some of these incredibly wasteful, failures of government spending that have been effective only at helping the poorest of the survive, cause who wants that?

These programs in Ryan's world are counterproductive and ineffective and only create what he calls a poverty trap, which at the current levels of funding I assume would be poorly made and would fall apart after a couple times of catching poor people.

Still the report does admit that these programs have helped millions of Americans and has also reduced the poverty rate far below what it would be, if these programs did not exist.

Speaking of these programs, Thinkprogress put together a list of helpful programs from Paul Ryan's own report.

The VA, despite their bad record and issues that they currently face, the mileslong backlog they're working and have made some strides in fixing, Ryan's report finds that the VA's Health Administration program is "effective in providing access to inexpensive health care for low-income veterans. "

What about the children? Well the child tax credit according to the CBPP it prevented 2.9 Million people from falling into poverty that includes about 1.5 Million children.

The EITC, that helps working people get more money, Ryan's report said "the "consensus among studies on the EITC is that it is an effective tool for encouraging and rewarding work among lower-income individuals, particularly single mothers."

Housing assistance grants,

Family planning

Federal health care centers

Low income subsidies for Medicare Part D

Numerous Nutrition programs for the Elderly, women, infants and Children, school breakfast.

All of these programs and more, 16 in all were found by Paul Ryan to be moderately; to very effective at doing what they're supposed to do. Still, Paul Ryan thinks that many of these programs are a safety hammock that lulls people into lives of utter dependency and must be eliminated in order to give those job creators more money. Because if only the job creators had more money and Americans weren't so lazy, would America return to full employment, and would poverty disappear.
