YouTube Description
as posted by the channelLynette is a certified nursing assistant in the Bronx. She's going to school to become a registered nurse. She has two daughters. And she has a Section 8 housing voucher — $3,885 a month in rent, $2,835 covered by the voucher, $1,050 she pays herself. Every month. While working full time. While going to school.
Trump's HUD Secretary Scott Turner just proposed a rule requiring every Section 8 recipient to prove they work 40 hours a week — or lose their voucher. Lynette already works. The rule doesn't care.
HUD's own analysis admits this will cost between $2.7 million and $55.3 million to implement. It has produced zero documented employment gains in every program that's tried it. If it passes, 3.7 million households — including 1.9 million children — could lose their housing assistance.
We've been here before. Arkansas ran a Medicaid work requirement in 2018. Eighteen thousand people lost coverage. Employment didn't move. San Bernardino tried it. Same result.
This isn't a policy. It's a purge dressed up in paperwork.
