Conservative radio host Marc Bernier died from COVID this weekend after fighting the disease for three weeks. Bernier was fond of attacking both masks and vaccines, and called himself "Mr. Anti-Vax." He now joins the growing ranks of Republicans who have been killed by their own hubris and ignorance, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

Over the weekend, a another anti-vax conservative radio host this time by the name of Marc Bernier died after a, roughly three week battle with COVID-19. Mr. Bernier, Bernier, had dubbed himself, Mr. Anti VAX, and now like so many other anti-vaxxers before him, he is dead. I always preface these stories by saying, I take no joy whatsoever in reporting any of this. It's saddening. It's sickening at this point that we have so many people in this country still choosing to be ignorant about what is happening here in the United States. But I also have to say that I am very quickly running out of sympathy here. This was a preventable death as were the deaths of other conservative radio hosts like Farrell and Phil Valentine. None of these people needed to die. All they had to do was adequately protect themselves and the chances of them surviving this would have risen astronomically.

But instead they decided to sell their audiences this anti-vax BS and now they're dead. Three conservative radio hosts have died of COVID-19 in just the last month. All of whom were out there questioning the safety and efficacy of these vaccines. Two of them, both Farrell and Phil Valentine had said, while they were in the hospital, you know, once they get out, they're going to change their tune. But that never happened. They never got out. They never got the opportunity to tell their audience that they had gotten this thing painfully stupidly wrong. So the question is, is the message getting through to those people, to the audience, the people who looked at these individuals as the beacons of truth and honesty out there to report the real news to them.

That's why I continue talking about these things because we have to get through to those people. The longer this thing stays out there, the more we're going to see variants. Those variants, variants, excuse me, are going to become more vaccine resistance as, resistant, excuse me, as time goes on. So if we do not stop this thing, if we cannot get enough people vaccinated, we're going to be back to square one eventually. Two of these conservative radio hosts have been in the state of Florida, where of course, COVID cases are still going through the roof, hospitalizations and deaths also hitting new records. We're struggling down here as are many states throughout the South. But this thing is all over the country. So my advice still has not changed. If you have questions about the safety of this vaccine, please go talk to a medical doctor, talk to a family physician.

Don't try to get advice from somebody on the radio. Hell, honestly, don't turn to yes or no answers from folks on YouTube. Don't listen to podcasters about whether or not you should or shouldn't get it. Talk to a medical professional. They're the ones who know best. Go talk to a scientist, find them on Twitter. They're out there giving all kinds of wonderful information. Just make sure you verify with them and that's of course, you know, who they are, their credentials. That's why, of course I say, talk to a medical professional. That's the best way. That's the smartest way. But if you take advice from these people who keep dying from the virus, there's a good chance your fate is unfortunately going to end up being the same as theirs.
