Taxpayers have been footing the bill for Donald Trump's Secret Service agents since he left office, which is what happens for all former Presidents. The problem with Trump's billing is that the money goes right back into his own pockets. So far, the former President has billed the Secret Service for more than $1 million in services from his properties, meaning he gets to make a nice kickback for having this protection. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

According to new reports out this week, Donald Trump has billed the secret service for $1.3 million for using his hotels and transportation. $1.3 million in the last year for them to stay at his properties and use his property in order to protect him from people. And that $1.3 million of course comes out of our tax dollars. And here's where this matters. I am okay with the fact that the former president of the United States gets secret service protection for the rest of their life. They do need it. Not saying they all deserve it, but I am saying they all do need it. So we've got Trump, Obama, Bush Jr, Clinton and Carter still alive, still all receiving secret service protection. But there's a difference between what Donald Trump is receiving because unlike like Donald Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, and Carter do not own the properties that they're making the secret service agents stay at.

So they don't get any kind of kickback. Right? Obama is not profiting off of having secret service protection. As much as I hate him, George W. Bush isn't stuffin' his pockets, by having the secret service stay at a hotel that he owns, because he doesn't own one. Trump is the exception and that is why this story is particularly disturbing. He is taking our tax dollars and putting them in his pockets because he has to have that secret service stay right there with him. Now some agents of course have decided recently that instead of staying at Mar-a-Lago, they're gonna stay at cheaper hotels nearby. And that's good for some of them, some members of the detail, however, not all of them can do that. Right? Trump does have to have somebody in his vicinity at all times.

And while they're there, even if they're staying at a different property, they still have to eat food. They would still have to rent a golf cart when he's out on the golf cart, golf course, and yes, he charges them for that. Trump could provide all of these things to these agents for free. There would be no problem with that. He allegedly can afford it, right? He doesn't have to charge them anything, but he is a greedy son of a. So he is. And he is taking our tax dollars and putting it back into his pockets minus expenses, right? Because that's how businesses work. That's why this story is particularly disturbing. And of course his children have also racked up a couple million dollars in fees using the free limo service that the president gets after leaving office. So his kids are charging us millions dollars, even though they don't get to put that back in their pockets.

But this whole thing is ridiculous. Like I said, I have no problem with the former president, former first lady getting secret service protection forever. I draw the line at the kids. Maybe if they're young kids, maybe if they're in school, like I think Barron should have it, absolutely. But those grown adult children, to hell with them. No, you don't get it. I mean Junior and Eric weren't even a part of the administration. Like they shouldn't have any privileges whatsoever. If they want private security, they can pay for it, which they do. They don't need all these extra perks that daddy's letting them use because he got to play president for a couple years and the taxpayers are the ones across the board getting screwed on this.
