3:31Now PlayingThe day after the January 6th Insurrection, Donald Trump tried to claim that he ordered 10,000 troops to protect the Capitol. According to testimony in front of the January 6th Committee that was released this week, Trump's former Defense Secretary Chris Miller says that this claim was absolutely not true. Miller's testimony once again underscores the fact that Trump did absolutely nothing to stop the rioters, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

On the day after the January 6th, 2021 capital riot, Donald Trump put out a video saying that he had asked for 10,000 national guard and other military personnel to secure the capital the day before on January 6th, 10,000, he said, well, it was revealed this week in a video released by the January 6th committee. Of course, they're not doing any televised hearings, but they are still releasing some information. They released a video of Chris Miller, who at the time was Donald Trump's acting, uh, secretary of defense and Chris Miller under oath. Long time ago said that Donald Trump is full of crap. He did not ask for 10,000 troops. He did nothing confirming of course, what the January 6th committee, uh, presented last week that Trump did nothing. Now we have the guy that would, would have been in charge of Trump had asked for 10,000 troops telling the committee, he didn't do a thing. He didn't ask us for 10,000 troops. That's just yet another lie that Donald Trump told to the American public. Here's what Chris Miller said. There was no order from the president. There was no official message traffic or anything of that nature. That was not part of my plan or the department of defense's plan.
It didn't happen yet. Another thing that Donald Trump made up and fed to the public and had it not been for the January 6th committee, we wouldn't have known the truth. And here's what gets me about this. You know, it's great that these people are testifying under oath that they're going there. They're they're rebutting Donald Trump debunking all these things. He's saying, why did y'all not come out sooner? Chris Miller, Donald Trump made this claim on January 7th. He was out of office, along with you, by the way, on January 20th, less than two weeks later, why did you not come out? Then you had nothing to lose. Then you could have come out and said, by the way, couple weeks ago, this guy told you something that was a complete and total lie. Why didn't any of these people speak up until they were put under oath? That's what me off.
And it me off that so many of them have also made some outrageous claims about Donald Trump, but they saved them. So they could put them in their books and sell a lot of copies and make a lot of money that goes both for members of the Trump administration and reporters, right? The New York times reporters that kept releasing the new audio of Kevin McCarthy, showing how he was so disgusted and annoyed with Trump. Those tapes should have come out sooner, but you wanted to make a profit off of it. I get it. I get it. That doesn't make it okay, because this was information the public should have known about a year and a half ago. So I'm glad these stories are finally getting told, but I'm not gonna stop being off that they should have been told to us 18 months ago.
