3:53Now PlayingRepublican Presidential candidate has called for raising the retirement age - just as Republicans are fighting back accusations that they want to cut Social Security and Medicare. This is a campaign loser for Haley, and the timing of her call is absolutely mind-blowing considering the backlash that Republicans are facing. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

At a time when Republicans are getting slammed by both the media and the Democratic Party for wanting to cut entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare. Nikki Haley, who is running for president, at least on paper, went to Iowa, gave a speech and actually called for raising the retirement age here in the United States. While the rest of her party is trying to run away from anything that could be construed as a cut to Medicare social security, Nikki Haley decided to go the stupid route and kind of double down on it. Here's what she said. The first thing you do is you change the retirement age of the young people coming up so that we can try and have some sort of system for them. You reform the entitlements, but you do it in a way that you don't take anything away from the seniors or people who are getting ready to retire.
You focus on the new generation, you focus on what's next. So clearly Nikki Haley understands who the Republican base is, right? It's the elderly voters that is their largest voting block. So she's like, listen, I'm not gonna mess with your social security in Medicare, but that next generation who, boy, I am gonna screw them over, it's also kind of fitting that. She's like, let's raise the retirement age and then doesn't say what age that would be. So she doesn't actually have a plan, like she's just out there like, we could do this. How do we do that? Shut the hell up. I'm not answering that. Like you have to give specifics. Would you say raise the retirement age? You kind of need to tell people what the new age would be. Cuz if you're talking about raising it by six months, then you're probably gonna be okay.
If you're talking about raising it three or 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 years, then yeah, you're gonna face major backlash, which of course is why she didn't mention it, cuz I'm sure it's an absolutely ridiculous number. But again, your party is already struggling with young people. Like young people very overwhelmingly reject the Republican Party in everything that you guys claim to stand for, and here you are saying, we're gonna screw you even more. We've already screwed up the environment to the point where you may not even be able to fix it, and now we're gonna screw with your retirement so that you just have to keep working till you finally drop dead on that factory floor. So everybody wins because I'm not actually taking it away from the elderly people yet. This is the dumbest thing I could ever imagine. I wanna know who Nikki Haley's campaign people are like, I wanna know who her advisors are. I wanna know who her chief of staff is for that campaign. I wanna know what Moron went out there and said, Hey, you know how we're getting hammered for wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare. What if you tell people, get this,
We're gonna cut Social Security in Medicare. Ha ha. Yeah, that person should have been fired on the spot and never allowed anywhere near a politician ever again for the rest of their lives. But Nikki, you do you right? I mean, if you wanna go out there and keep telling people that Republicans are gonna cut these programs, please do because it's been a massive gift for the Democrats. They gotta win when they desperately needed one. So please keep being stupid because it only makes the Democrats chances in 2024 that much better.
