4:29Now PlayingDonald Trump might not have many "declared" opponents for the 2024 Republican primary, but the few that he does have - and the ones most likely to announce a run soon - are being swarmed by an army of thousands of pro-Trump bots on social media. Thousands of fake accounts have reportedly been created by a single entity, and they are spreading the pro-Trump propaganda as quickly as his rivals can make single posts. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

An Israeli tech firm has uncovered a bot army on social media that is out there attacking Donald Trump's political opponents. It's attacking his critics. And of course, when they're not attacking, they are praising Donald Trump and they're all bots, and we don't know who created them. And there are currently thousands of bot accounts that it is believed were created by a single either individual or entity. And they're all out there spewing the same pro-Trump anti everybody else propaganda. They're going after Nikki Haley, they're going after Ron DeSantis, while occasionally also saying he'd be a good running mate for Trump. They're out there attacking Mitch McConnell. They're out there going after Chris Christie. Of course, they're going after Democrats and Joe Biden, but this massive bot army of thousands and thousands can't be traced back to its creator. And not only is the propaganda terrifying, but the fact that social media outlets these, these tech firms, they can't find the source.
Well, that's exceptionally troubling now, isn't it? Because we don't know where this is coming from. Is this another one of those Russian troll farm things, which did happen, by the way, could this be the Trump campaign itself using the best VPN we've ever seen? Could this be just weirdo Trump supporters who have a little bit of a tech savvy with them and know how to do this? Is it foreign? Is it domestic? Is it Republican? Is it Democrat? We don't know anything because for some reason, again, we can't trace the origin of these bots. And of course, the reason this is such a problem is because we've barely scratched the surface on the 2024 presidential race. Okay, we're just now kind of getting into it. The only real, uh, candidates, technical candidates who have declared right now are Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, and Maryanne Williamson. Even President Biden hasn't technically declared that he is running for president again.
So in that list of official candidates, you can't keep him. So we only have three officially declared people and already a bot, army of thousands all over social media spreading pro-Trump propaganda. Imagine how bad this is going to be in six months, especially if we can't get to the bottom of who's behind this in order to shut it down. I'm not saying whoever it is should be prosecuted. Honestly, it's not a crime as far as I know, but the bots need to be shut down. Isn't that what Elon said he was gonna do when he took over Twitter? Like, where are you at on this one, bud? Where, where, where's all your, you know, tech savvy now?
All your promises to get rid of the bots so advertisers can come in. There's more bots than, you know, we've seen in elections so far. And that's on you at this point. You own it, you broke it, you bought it, and you're not doing anything as far as we can tell to shut down these bot armies that are only going to get worse as we inch closer and closer to the 2024 election. So I guess the big lesson here is be vigilant. If you see some, uh, account on social media engaging in bot like behavior, report it as spam. See if we can knock 'em out one at a time, I guess, because apparently it's on us. Tech giants aren't doing anything. International tech firms can't identify the source of it. So we have to be the people to do the work for them, and we better do it quick because as industry experts point out, this bot problem is only gonna get worse as artificial intelligence.
