It has been nearly two weeks since Donald Trump announced that he would be indicted in a matter of days, and so far no indictments have been handed down. And now prosecutors with the Manhattan DA's office are speaking to the press and saying that they don't even think the hush money case is a good one. In fact, they describe the case in general as "weak." Could this mean that Alvin Bragg is intentionally trying to let Trump off the hook? Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins answers that question.

The grand jury in Manhattan has decided that they're gonna be gone for the next month. They have officially adjourned, and they'll be meeting up probably end of April, early May a once again start looking at evidence involving Donald Trump and several different scandals. But on the same day yesterday that it was announced they were going to adjourn for a month, which by the way, could be due to security concerns. It could be because of the Easter holiday coming up. So there's all kinds of reasons why they would adjourn. I'm not faulting them for that. But on the same day, this was announced, the Daily Beast published an article where they spoke with multiple different anonymous people from the Manhattan DA's office who all seem to express the same concern about the Stormy Daniels case. That concern was that this case kind of sucks. It's weak. They said, not only was it weak, they basically are saying, even if we get a conviction, you're not gonna be able to send him to jail, even if you raise it to the level of a felony, which is what they're having a bit of a hard time doing.

And the article from The Daily Beast goes back, they, they have quotes from Mark Pomerance where Pomerance, who again, everybody knows he was the prosecutor that resigned last year after Bragg, decided not to go after the financial crimes, even though those indictments were already ready to go. And Pomerance said, yeah, we never even bothered to look at that because nobody thought it was that big of a deal. Why would we waste our time on that specific prosecution when we're not gonna get anything out of it? Even, uh, SI Vance, the previous district attorney didn't think that was a big deal, didn't want to go after it. So now you've got people in the Manhattan DA's office, the ones that are still there, saying, this is kind of stupid. We are wasting a lot of time on this. We've got the financial crimes. You know, we could be doing that.

The real one, the big one, but we're wasting time on something that even if we get a conviction, is not gonna be that big of a conviction. So we would basically end up with this unprecedented action of prosecuting a former president for piddly little crimes. That's a waste of time, they believe. But here's what I'm wondering, and I've been thinking this a lot recently, so I'm gonna go ahead and throw it out there. Part of me feels like Alvin Bragg is setting this up for failure. He is setting it up so that he loses so that he doesn't have to do this anymore. Now, think about it for a second. Again, this is just, you know, a theory I have. You can believe it. If you want, you can, you know, not I don't care. But when you look at all of this evidence that brag could have gone after the real crime for which indictments were already written,

But he decides to go after the one that everybody else in that office has said, this is a waste of time. Probably can't even get a conviction for it. But by doing that, by going after the stupid one and failing, Brad can go out there to the media, go out there to the constituents who put him in office and said, guys, I tried. I really tried. I don't think you understand how hard it is to convict a former president of the United States. So my office is gonna move on, right? We win after Trump.
