A high school student in Missouri has been suspended after she used her phone to record a teacher using racial slurs while confronting a student. The teacher wasn't disciplined as harshly, and was put on paid leave, but the student now faces unnecessary hardship in her academics for trying to expose the disgusting behavior of the teacher. A high school student in the state of Missouri has been suspended for the crime of filming a teacher using racial slurs. The student who is a sophomore, I am not going to give her name, but I will tell you that she is a student at Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri. And here's what happened. A teacher comes into the class and sees a couple of African-American students. And I, I guess based on the story, one of them, perhaps even both of them, used the N-word while talking to one another. And the teacher became rate, and the teacher went up and repeated the word and said, why are you allowed to say it? And I am not.

So the students were not even addressing the teacher, they were having their own private conversation. The teacher comes up, starts using that word, it says, why can't I say it? Why can't I say it? Which as we all know, is kind of a typical theme for, uh, white right wingers to do. Like, why can they say it and I can't? And the sophomore, the young girl pulls out her phone and starts filming this because obviously your teacher is in the classroom saying that word. You wanna get that on film so that you can show the administration, show that, so that you can show the parents what is happening in the school.

So after this event happens, and of course everybody else in the class is a witness to this, um, the sophomore, the girl who filmed it was suspended for three days last Friday, Monday. And of course today she will get to go back to school tomorrow because she violated the school's p uh, policy on using electronic devices during class. That's what they got her for. You were illegally using a cell phone to record a moment that has now become national news. Honestly, probably wouldn't even be national news if the school had not suspended the student for doing the right thing. Now, when you're suspended in most school districts across the country, you are not allowed to make up any of the work that you miss. You take zeros or incompletes on all of those assignments for three days. And as we're coming up on the end of the school year, this could significantly impact this young woman's ability to graduate into the next grade. It could hinder her end of the year grades. It could have her removed from any honor societies, cuz typically any kind of disciplinary referral will get you kicked out of the honor societies, uh, society. Excuse me. So her academic career could be in shambles now because of this. Oh, but the teacher, don't worry. The teacher was placed on paid leave. Paid leave. So the teacher essentially gets a paid vacation for using that word in

The classroom, and the student takes zeros on all of the work that they missed. The student is being punished more than the teacher. Now, maybe that'll change as this story gains some momentum here. But this is truly disgusting. That student did nothing wrong. That student did everything right. The teacher should have been fired on the spot, not put on paid leave. And if you have to put 'em on leave, make 'em use their vacation time or their sick days, or hell unpaid leave. Don't give them a paid vacation right here at the end of the school year so that, hey, sweet, I don't have to write exams for my students. This is bs. The school district still has time to correct this and I hope for their sake they do that, cuz if not, this student's got a pretty solid lawsuit that she could file against them and probably win it pretty quick.
