Democratic Representative Veronica Escobar tore into Republican Representative Jim Jordan during an appearance on CNN this week after the release of the Durham Report. Escobar accused Jordan of abusing his power as the Chair of the Judiciary Committee, saying that he's spending all of his time on this "performance" instead of doing real work for the American people. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains why Escobar is absolutely correct in her assessment, and explains how Democrats need to use these facts against all Republicans.

Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan continues to get called out by his colleagues for doing such a horrible job as a member of Congress. And of course, as chairman of the Judiciary Committee this week, it was Republican, or excuse me, democratic representative, Veronica Escobar, who while appearing on C N N, called out Jim Jordan for basically turning that entire judiciary committee into nothing more than a circus, a theater for the absurd. Here is what representative Veronica Escobar told Wolf Blitzer on C N n. I am a member of the House Judiciary Committee and Chairman Jordan. Unfortunately, instead of using the committee as a vehicle for getting real work done for the American people, solving the many challenges that we face in our country, he has used it as an opportunity for performance. I have not yet read the Durham report, but I have definitely had an opportunity to look through some of it.

I've heard reports about it. We've spent an awful lot of money as an American government on a report that essentially proves no wrongdoing. But the fact that Chairman Jordan wants to just continue this shows their disinterest in really the work of governing. And it's that last line, their disinterest in the actual work of governing. That is something that I have been hitting on for years here at Ring of Fire because Republicans do not know how to govern. That is why Jim Jordan is behaving the way that he is. He knows that he's got nothing with these investigations. In spite of all of the Republicans and MAGA hat wearing freaks out there celebrating the release of the Durham report this week, they know at least the ones with power, not the idiots on Twitter. They know it doesn't say what they're saying. It says they know that Durham did not recommend any criminal charges and that the only change he said should take place is that one person should, should have oversight of any investigation into a political figure.

That's it. That's all he said. And of course, he was mad that they launched a full investigation instead of a preliminary investigation. But that's a matter of semantics, basically depends on how credible they thought the stuff was. And Durham himself admitted that the stuff in the steel dossier was not technically disproven. It just wasn't confirmed. So there is a world of difference between those things. And Jim Jordan this week has gone out there trumpeted this Durham report as if it's the silver bullet that's going to kill the entire intelligence apparatus here in the United States. It's not. If y'all wanna talk about the real problems with the intelligence apparatus of the United States, I'm here for that conversation.

We have surveillance of American citizens. We have spying on environmental activists, spying on union activists, and this is stuff that goes back a hundred years with these agencies in the United States. Those are the conversations I want to have. Those are the reforms we need to put in place. But instead, Jim Jordan doesn't want to address the real issues. So as Escobar correctly points out, he's sitting there with his little theater performance pretending things are happening that are not actually happening. And the only reason he's doing that is because when it comes down to it, Jim Jordan doesn't actually know how to govern. Jim Jordan doesn't know how to be an effective member of Congress.
