as posted by the channel

The Trump administration has taken the unprecedented move of dismissing ALL of the voting rights cases that the DOJ was actively pursuing against cities, states, or municipalities that may have violated sections of the Voting Rights Act and violated people’s rights in the process. They then took things a step further by firing all of the investigators in the voting rights division of the DOJ. This gives states a green light to suppress and violate voting rights across the country, as Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains.

Because the media this week was a little over-focused on what Trump has done in a hundred days, which was nothing but horrible things, of course. And the Amazon, maybe they're gonna show the tariff prices, maybe not. Of course, on top of all the immigration snafus, the constant scandals with Pete Hegseth, some news stories get a little buried. This happens to be one of those stories according to a report from The Guardian, of course. 'cause American media can't be too, uh uh, distracted by things like this. The Civil Rights Division or the Voting Rights Division, excuse me, in the United States Department of Justice, has officially dismissed all of the cases that they had against cities, states, and municipalities.

And to make things even worse, not only did they dismiss every single voting rights case they were investigating and prosecuting, they also went ahead and fired all the investigators. Why? I think that much is obvious, right? We've got Harmit Dill in charge of the voting rights wing of the US Department of Justice, and since that's a Trump appointee by God, they don't want people looking at what these red states or red cities are doing to suppress the vote and deny citizens of their right to vote. Every case, according to this Guardian report, every single voting rights case has now been dismissed. There will be no accountability. But even worse than no accountability is the green light that this gives. These areas that, you know, the Voting Rights Act was passed to make sure, hey, you can't do this 'cause you have a history of being very racist with your voting laws.

These areas of the country now have a green light to do whatever the hell you want. We're not gonna prosecute you. And even if we wanted to, we couldn't because again, we fired all the investigators too for good measure. This is how authoritarian authoritarianism takes hold in this country. We have already seen it in here. We have seen it with the arresting of the judges. We have seen it with the photos of the deported people on the White House lawn. We have seen it in every action from this administration. And now that fascism has taken hold, now they're gonna make sure that people can't vote it out. We're going to allow these states, or cities, municipalities, whatever it is, to violate the Voting Rights Act. And when they do it, we're gonna pretend we didn't even see it. 'cause hell, we probably didn't see it 'cause we fired all the investigators.

So this is now where we're at. Each day with this administration, the bar gets lowered and each day we think by God there is no way in hell they can lower that bar anymore. And then they go ahead and do it. This is where we're at right now in the United States in 2025.
