“We have elected a new president and that really shifting the dialogue the way that America is thinking,” Jenkins says.
Abdullah, who serves as co-director of BLM Grassroots, believes that the guilty verdict will play a significant role in policy reform.
“What I think that needs to happen throughout the country is really not just reforming policing but transforming policing,” Abdullah adds.
Today was also the deadline that the Biden administration pushed to get the George Floyd Act through congress, which is still being debated on the Senate floor.
