7:22Now PlayingAs a key part of President Joe Biden's stimulus package, he allocated over $4 billion to Black and minority farmers who have lost 90% of their land over the past century due in part to racism and discrimination.
The money would provide debt relief as well as grants, training and education to these farmers. However, it now hangs in the balance because a U.S. district judge in Florida temporarily blocked it. The ruling came after a lawsuit was filed by Scott Wynn, a white Farmer in Florida who claims he also faced financial challenges during the pandemic. He alleges the debt programs for minority farmers discriminated against him as a white person. The program was already temporarily on hold due to another lawsuit by a white farmer in Wisconsin. John Boyd Jr., president and founder of the National Black Farmers Association, joins "Prime with Charles Blow" to discuss the topic.
