9:07Now PlayingAccording to a 2019 Pew research study, more than 2 million Black people in the United States identify as Afro Latino. However, Black Latinxs often feel overlooked even within the Latinx community.
That's what propelled Amilcar Priestley and Mai-Elka Prado Gil to create the Afro Latino Festival of New York. It is returning for its ninth edition with the theme "Love and Resistance." The festival aims to affirm, educate and celebrate the contributions of the Afro Latinx community. The two-day virtual event will showcase more than ten artists and activists from the African diaspora. Priestley and Gil join "Black News Tonight" with Marc Lamont Hill to discuss the festival.
