5:16Now PlayingA bipartisan group of senators, including 10 Democrats and 11 Republicans, agreed on a framework for an infrastructure proposal, which they presented to President Biden on Thursday. If it passes, it will be the largest spending in the country’s infrastructure in modern history.
Bofta Yimam joins Shannon LaNier on “Start Your Day” to discuss what could potentially stop the passing of this nearly trillion-dollar plan.
“There’s cautious optimism here Shannon,” Yimam says. “That is because President Biden will not sign this massive billion-dollar package totaling around $579 billion focused very narrowly on traditional infrastructure unless it’s paired with a reconciliation bill.”
White House officials report a positive meeting between the group and the president. Overall spending would total $973 billion over five years and approximately $1.2 trillion if the plan extends to 8 years.
